The so called charge indicator lamp built in the dashboard of your vehicle gives you no information about the charging voltage on the battery terminals. Without this small device you can only realise the failure of your charging system after your battery has failed due to under or over-charging. That is too late. This unit is very accurate (+0.05 V) voltmeter which should be wired onto the battery terminal. The LEDS give you information as below. When the engine is not running: YELLOW - charged battery YELLOW + RED - discharged battery
When the engine is running
YELLOW - low charging voltage (U>13.6V) GREEN - appropriate charging voltage (13.8< U<14.4) RED - Overcharging (U>14.4V)
